How to Save Valuable Time Updating Social Networking Sites Like Twitter and Facebook
BySocial networking sites have become the rage and continue to show explosive growth in popularity and also in numbers. Every day you see new sites popping up. It’s literally amazing and don’t doubt for a minute… if you want to establish ANY online business presence, you better jump on the social networking bandwagon or get left behind.
While social networking can be both fun and profitable, it can also suck your time away. Now keep in mind… time is one of your most valuable assets. You better make good use of it.
Sites like Twitter and FaceBook and MySpace require interaction on your part where you’re contributing to the network. People learn about whom you are, identify common interests and develop long-lasting relationships. However, this “micro blogging” element requires you to post “status updates” on what you’re up to or what’s on your mind.
This can easily become overwhelming when you think about having to visit all these sites once or even several times each day to post. This alone actually prohibits many people from even participating because they realize they don’t have the time. And if you did have the time, is this he most productive way to spend your day?
WOW! Not for me.
Now think about this for a minute… wouldn’t it be great if you were able to update all your social sites with a single click of your mouse button? There’s an old expression, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.” Someone has figured this out and has developed a way for you to do just that.
I recently started using a new service called Ping.fm, and let me tell you, this is a life-saver. It’s a great, simple little application that makes it possible for you to update ALL your social networking sites at the same time! Simply Amazing! And get this; you can even update all of your sites from your cell phone or Blackberry!
To get started using Ping.fm, just follow these simple steps.
- Go to ping.fm and set up an account.
- Select your sites from the list of networks and just click “Add Network.” There are currently around 35 supported social networks.
- Follow the simple directions on the service page to establish the connection. (One note about FaceBook – they do require you to take a few extra steps but it is still very simple to do.)
That’s all it takes. Now you can log into to your personal dashboard and very quickly enter your “Status Update.” and it will be sent out to all of your selected sites.
You’ll be surprised how quickly the sites update. Initially, I suggest you check out each of your social sites to see exactly how the updating works for each. If you’re like me, there are times when you might not want to update all of your sites but just a select few. Well Ping.fm lets you group your sites together and only update to selected groups. You can also choose to update to a single site. You can get all the details by reviewing posting tips provided by ping.fm.
Ping.fm also auto-shrinks long URLs to shorter versions if you do decide to include a web address within your update. This is a GREAT service, it’s easy to use, and is a time-saving tool that you should strongly consider using – that is if you want to tap into the power of Social Networking to grow your online business.
One last thing to keep in mind – it’s easy to become overwhelmed at first with all the networking sites available through Ping.fm. If you’re just getting started, select a few like Twitter, FaceBook, and MySpace, to get going. You’ll need to spend a little time upfront establishing a profile for each. But once it’s done, managing your sites is now a breeze.
